Hi Ian

Good point about the poster - mine doesn't have it. Would you send ina pic when you get ahold of one?

Hi Jules

Thanks for your kind words - and also for the TTT explanation.

Recall your anecdote about the Parker Street visit from the typography book - don't blame him in the least! Did you get a butcher's at any of the books at all? have listed a few here on the site which he was into; am glad that the archive now contains his very copies.

Others have distinct recall about the MFP cover being put together over a number of days - he must have been cutting it fine as usual - the tour ended on Nov 3 and the album was out on Nov 18...

You make a good point finally. I favour a phrase I used in the Lissitzky post pinched from Michael Billington in regard to a particular political drama which he said fulfilled “a basic function of art by instructing delightfully”.

Any time you're up for an interview would love to talk to you about BB, your interaction with him, his influences and place in the scheme of things.

Wonderful site about Barney. And being about Barney you hate to use the forum to bleat about yourself - but if one didn't feel inadequate enough in such company, it would appear what meagre contributions I have made to the 'culture' seem to have escaped Howard in his recollections of BBs involvement with the Furs. Richard didn't 'create the artwork for Talk Talk Talk". He brought the Warhol book round to my studio for me to be inspired by it! Hence the design credit on the inner sleeve being the pair of us. The Warhol reference was also my suggestion.

Not that Barney was any stranger to art books. I remember calling round to Parker Street one day and as I entered the top floor where he had a desk, he jokingly looked up and asked for me to wait whilst he hid the library books. Kosmo once told me a lovely story about how they were on tour (suspect the first Stiff tour) and they came back to Alexander Street early one morning to find lights on in the basement. When he went downstairs he found Barney slaving over the second Damned cover with a huge book of Kandinsky propped up in front of him. As I've always maintained, Barney Bubbles taught me more about art history than any lecturer...

Initial pressings of "Forever now" came with a free poster, which I had, but lost - or threw away. I'm now actively trying to find a pristine replacement copy, as It would enable me to have a Giant Barney Poster, for peanuts.
